The Hunger Games; Movie Edition

We watched The Hunger Games back in March the day after the Moving truck hauled our belongings to Colorado.  Both of us were stoked to see the film after reading the book in January. The experience was much-needed. After days and days of packing, hauling, stressing out, more packing and hauling just sitting through the movie was beyond relaxing.

Seeing as the DVD was recently released I thought a short review was in order. In our opinion the movie was an excellent adaptation and we’re anxious to see more. We applaud how the movie portrayed violence as an unnecessary evil. Synopsis from here.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games.  A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Here’s the trailer.

Have you seen it ? What were your thoughts?
